SPIROL's origin began with the invention of the Coiled Spring Pin in 1948 designed by Herman Koehl to securely fasten jet engine turbine blade assemblies onto the wheel. At that time, there was no other fastener that had the combination of strength and flexibility that could meet the specific requirements of this demanding assembly.
