Plastic Spray Bottle Nozzle

Application:

A manufacturer of moulded plastic spray bottle nozzles intended for restaurant applications was looking for a way to “tamper proof” their adjustable spray tip.  If the users were able to adjust the spray volume, they would apply too much or little solution. The problem was that the adjustment position varied from application to application. They did not want to alter the moulded parts, nor did they want to perform any secondary machining operations, such as drilling or punching holes. The decision was to “pin” the nozzle in position, but they were unsure of the best method to achieve this.

SPIROL Solution:

The pin inserter had to be extremely quick, and above all else, easy to use. SPIROL Engineers determined that the hole could be created by using the pin to pierce the plastic during installation. The swaged chamfers on SPIROL’s Coiled Pin make an ideal reduced diameter for piercing the hole, while the larger body diameter of the pin enables it to retain itself securely in the assembly. The nozzle caps arrive to the Model PR Pin Inserter pre-adjusted for the proper piercing location. The operator loads the components into the fixture and activates the machine. The pin is installed, the machine retracts and resets. No machine adjustments are required during installation.

Due to the rotational resistance provided by the pin, the end user cannot adjust the spray volume in the final assembly – making it tamper proof.
